HP DeskJet GT 5820 Printer does not detect black printhead

  • Your HP printer might display an error message if the printheads are not seated properly.
  • Discard the printhead that is indicated by the printer icon on its operation panel.
  • Raise the exterior door and then open the printhead access door.
  • Push the blue carriage latch gently.
  • Press down on the printhead slightly and pull to remove it completely from the slot.
  • Ensure that the plugs that are present on top of the printhead are removed.
  • Check if all the tapes on the printhead contacts are discarded.
  • Hold the printhead at a slightly upward angle and then place it into the empty slot.
  • Push the printhead until it gets seated firmly.
  • Place the tri-colored printhead into the left and the black printhead into the right slots respectively.
  • Close the blue color latch until it snaps into place.
  • Lower the printhead access door and the exterior door. If the error remains unresolved, try resetting your HP Deskjet GT 5820 printer.
  • Find the Power button on the Deskjet GT 5820 printer and long press it to switch On the device.
  • Do not proceed until your Deskjet printer does not produce any sound.
  • Let the device be switched On, now disconnect the power cable from its rear.
  • Remove the cable from the power outlet.
  • It is highly suggested to connect the cable to an outlet or a socket without engaging any extensions.
  • Now reinsert the cable between the Deskjet GT 5820 printer’s rear and the electrical socket.
  • Switch On the Deskjet GT 5820 printer by pressing and holding its Power button.
  • Verify if the issue has been cleared.
