[Solved] Deskjet 4640 Series Ink cartriddge problem

  • The three common errors that your printer faces are cartridge missing, incompatible cartridge, or cartridge problem.
  • You need to ascertain that the newly installed ink cartridges are compatible with your printer.
  • In order to do so, you need to check if the cartridge compatible with the printer is unmodified and genuine.
  • You can get a compatible ink cartridge by purchasing them from the HP Store or local retailer.
  • Install them in their respective slot.
  • Hey, you will also have to open the cartridge access door to look for carriage jams.
  • Also, check for jammed paper, damaged ink cartridges or improperly seated cartridges.
  • Have an eye on the printer’s display panel to check if the error message disappears. If not open the access door, remove the cartridge, inspect it for leakage or damaged nozzles, and re-seat it.
  • You need to slide your finger over the cartridge to check if they are unevenly placed and remove the one which is uneven and re-seat it.
  • Check if the cartridge color matches with that of the color on top of the slot. If the issue persists after performing the following, clean the electrical contacts.
  • Take the cartridges out and locate the electrical contacts on the printer & cartridge.
  • Use dry foam rubber swabs, soak them in distilled or filtered water and rub the electrical contacts gently to get rid of dust and debris.
  • Once you are done, wait for them to dry, and re-install the cartridges.
  • Reset the printer, and the issue will resolve.
  • Print a test page.
